To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Bought for my daughter, but as usual I read it too. A nice detective adventure story, set in the time of the Cholas but with a lot of puns and language jokes. Some historical aspects pertaining to those times are also covered, and some notes given at the end. My estimate is that it is suitable for children ages 8+ / 3rd std & above, who have good reading skills.
I would love to support Indian authors and their works, but this book highlights all that is not right with Indian writing, especially for children.
1. It's a pocket book size, barely 6 inches X 5 inches... not at all a size that excites a kid 2. Nilomee's illustrations are very poor. Inconsistent, tiny and all over the place 3. The paper is dull and uninspiring for a children's book
Is it too much to ask for high-quality, well-illustrated, bright books for our young ones to enjoy; so that they are inspired to pick up a reading habit.
