To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I have no idea why some people are saying this device is really slow... It just isn't. After plugging this into my USB port I transferred a 320 MB music mix to the drive and it took just under 30 seconds. Easily writing at over 10.5 MB per second. So it appears it will do around 3 GB in 5 mins. If a 100 MB file take 10 seconds its going at 10 MB per second, if some free software on the net says otherwise... It's wrong! So don't read too much into the negative slow reviews as it clearly performs just as it should. People should consider other things that may be causing slow transfers as the device seems perfectly fine to me an my PC. However after testing myself it seems to be the case that the device transfers quicker when using the default FAT32 format and is slower for NTFS. The 320 MB file took 30 seconds with FAT32 and nearly 50 seconds with NTFS. NTFS is only really required if you will be storing any individual file over 4GB in size, in which case a Pen drive isn't really suitable anyway an you should buy an external HDD instead. So don't be put off its a good flash drive and performs exactly as it should. Don't hesitate to buy it.
The Sandisk 32Gb USB Cruzer is a great product at a wonderful price! Although I haven't lost the caps to other flash drives, I prefer the Sandisk method of protecting the tip because, sometimes, the removable caps are murder to get off! As with all these flash drives, I have no idea how long they'll retain data (theoretically, from 10 to 13 years...who knows?). That's why I back up the flash drive to another media (DVD-R or external hard disk -also dubious for longevity).
Now let's look at SanDisk's SecureAccess security software. Well, I never did figure out how to close the 'vault'. Not even when I removed the flash drive or logged off & on again! I decided that such idiosyncratic software was worse than nothing because of the false sense of security. Besides that, there was the Yuu Waa advert under the work space which occupied just as much area (I think the advert was for 'cloud' storage). I couldn't close the advert, nor resize the window. I got so annoyed at seeing this ad every time I opened the program (which didn't seem to secure the flash drive), that I deleted the SecureAccess program and installed the ever reliable TrueCrypt freeware!
A recent purchase, from mymemory, arrived well packaged and fast. Use: Document storage.
I have a few Sandisk Cruzers, none have let me down hence buying this one, works as well as my others so far, though it is only being asked to store documents and nothing as demanding as films/Vids or images.
Ideally, I would have preferred to review an item after using it for at least a few months, but have been prompted by the seller, should this Cruzer fail in anyway, I shall edit my review.
I don't know what happened here but this item was despatched on 10 September via Royal Mail and did not arrive until the 25th, though that is the first time in lots of purchases from Amazon and Amazon Marketplace that such a thing has happened and it probably got mislaid by Royal Mail.. It is a 32 GB Flash Drive and wonderful value for the money, am very pleased indeed with it so don't be put off by my experience, these things happen but I believe very rarely and I did get it in the end and I feel it was worth the wait.
This product was perfect and speedy when I first bought it, and now - 4 months later - it isn't being recognised by any computer or laptop, but it is being recognised by TVs and DVDs... Not helpful at all when you can't transfer files from either of those devices! After searching the internet for the problem, I've found it's a common issue with the Cruzer brand... I shall not be wasting my money on another of their products again!
To date have MP3'd almost 2000 music files for use in car, and have almost 75% of capacity remaining. Would recommend to any user requiring medium scale portable storage, and certainly anybody with an USB port in their car as have had continuous random play for the last 1000+ miles.
I use a Macbook and this device causes it to crash every time I plug it in. Seriously, I can't format it using disk utility and every time I try and eject it Finder freezes and I have to do a power button reboot. It must be a one off ( maybe ) but I am sending it back and wont be taking the chance with another one. Good luck with yours!
