Lee barneys review shows the colonial and Marxist interpretation of the Vedas. It takes everything literally. Davud Frawley is continuing the kind of tradition pursued by Auribindho whose illuminations on the Vedas were brilliant. I have found all the books written by Dr. Frawley insightful, not the stupid cliched material interpretations. Anyway if Indians can write the vedas we konw how to interpret them too. David frawley is mainly responsible for the decimation of the Aryan invasion theory. We welcome frawley because he follows an Indian narrative as opposed to Christian colonial and Marxist interpretations of Indias sacred texts.
David Frawley has written a beautiful book. Reading this book requires concentration but it's solo well worth it! His preliminary essay is very helpful, and the translations themselves are really true to the original. Full disclosure: I do not read Hindi or Sanskrit so I am judging by the translated material itself. If you want to deepen your understanding of Hindu thought as expressed in divine mantra, this book will assist in every way.
I am quite glad to see that there is some real work going on out there to explore the true message of the Veda. The Veda is not something that can be approached from outside the fold...one needs to delve all of oneself into the tradition in order to begin to uncover its secrets.
There is much to learn from this book, and the exposition of the mantras is simply beautiful.
Dr. Frawley has captured the deep spiritual meaning of the Rig Veda with a clarity that can only come from the heart. Exquisitely written, each sentence is rich with deep spiritual insight into the profound meaning of the Rig and our human spiritual journey. This work is truly a gift, in that the author gives us a clear but strong foundation on which we can begin to understand the meaning behind this ancient scripture. Each chapter of the book introduces hymns about a major power or force which permeates the universe. Dr. Frawley then discusses how that power is at work around us and through us to help us in our own unfolding. His insights create an allegorical mind-set that opens windows of perception not normally accessible to the average reader. Such a foundation lets the hymns come alive with meaning when one studies the deep metaphors in the Rig itself. This is definitely a "must read" for those to whom the ancient scriptures are calling.
