Of the three turkey trouble books we have; Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, this is probably my least favorite. It follows the same theme as Thanksgiving where turkey is trying to avoid becoming Christmas dinner. Let’s cut to the chase and the ending is also very similar to The Thanksgiving story. Since turkey is the iconic Thanksgiving food, the food theme works best for theThanksgiving book. The Halloween story is super cute and thematic to Halloween, aka trying to get candy! So even though turkey dresses in Christmas costumes, I wish the overall story wasn’t about him being food again. But you know, my daughter loves the turkey books and overall it still a fun read so we had to have them all.
My grandsons love the book "Turkey Trouble" by the same author and illustrator so I knew they would love this book too. We weren't disappointed. I would have given it 5 stars but the font size can't be changed and since the screen shows 2 pages at once the print is very, very small. Almost too small for them to read and I have a difficult time with it. I actually got out a magnifying glass. I wish they would change this as we love the stories
The story is a fun tail about a turkey and his desire not to become Christmas Dinner. The illustrations are excellent. I took this story to my son's second grade class and read it to the class. We had a lot of fun with the story and showing the illustrations.
All the kids had fun with Turkey's adventure....almost ;-) (if you read the story, you will understand the "...almost"
I have the Kindle edition of the story read on an IPad, I also have read it to my son from a Samsung Note, a bit small there, but you can highlight the text and it will be expanded.
Again a fun read for the kids. Imagery completed the story for certain.
I placed the order for this book too late to have it for the past Thanksgiving, but plan to have it available to read with my great grandson next year. I like the large print, the art work is very well done, and I expect he will enjoy it next Thanksgiving. I appreciate the way the writer makes use of light and sometimes humorous language to convey a message that a young child will enjoy.
