My daughter loves it. It’s the 3rd book in the series we have purchased.
I think ‘Over and Under the Pond’ is the best book of this series, but this book gives young readers an understanding of what animals actually do in the winter, and that’s something that’s explored far less often than what fish and animals do in water habitats. Other than the fact that bears hibernate in the winter, I think most parents can’t explain what animals do in winter, and so they can’t explain it to their kids. It’s a topic less explored.
This is not just a story. At the end of the book there is extra information on the different animals you see in the book. My kids are a little young for the extra information, but they do enjoy the story, so I see this as a great winter book we will grow into.
Beautiful look at the way various animals deal with the changing season. Simply written and beautifully illustrated. Sometimes we forget the multitude of creatures and where they are when they are buried under the vast blankets of snow.
