To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This book fits well with one of our school values of hope. Really simple text easy enough for preschoolers. Lots of opportunities to talk about hopes and dreams so a great book to use at the beginning or end of a school year.
We had a lot of fun with it! My Grade 5 students also wrote their hopes for the school year. One student wrote "I hope I can eat 100,000 chicken nuggets because sometimes I get really hungry." Great chance to practice sentence structure at the beginning of the year.
I used this as a read aloud with my third graders the first day of school. We followed it up by having them come up with goofy things they wish our class would do (field trip to space, an elephant for the class pet, etc...).
Great little book to read at the beginning of a school year. The story line is exciting with all the possible activities that can happen in a school year. The illustrator did a wonderful job helping to bring the story to life. I found the book to be a great source of conversation when talking about what the new school might look like with my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter who attends her preschool program three days a week.
