My husband wanted this game to play with our 4 year old. (soon to be 5) since he loves board games. My son understands the concept but still needs a little help. I like that he is practicing his letters with this game. Its easy to set up and close. I like that each player has his own board and its portable. My son was even able to play with his board over video chat with his grandfather (who drew the same board on a piece of paper). The only negative is it can be a little long to play, i would say max 30-45 min,
My box has a little damage but I guess Amazon is to blame not the manufacturer. I am very disappointed by the quality. It has nothing to do with the games I bought when I was a kid ! The ships do not fit well, the holes on the board are too big. How can you sell this game with such a poor fit ? It's weird because the white and red pegs fit well, they stay in place. The box is made in a cheap plastic. You got it, the quality is really poor but the game is still fun to play. If you don't know the game there are just a few simple rules so anyone can play it.
Overall the game is fine. I miss the one we had when we were kids with the sound effects etc. My son is 5 maybe a little young for the game but the clear acrylic piece that sits on the part that stands up doesn’t snap in and it kept falling out and the legs along with it. Mine was ok I was probably better able to deal. Quality for what u pay well.... it is what it is. It served its purpose.
While I disapprove of war- like toys and guns, this battleship game was desired by my almost 6 year- old grandson. He says that he plays it at school ( Senior Kindergarten) and convinced me that it helps him with numbers. There is a little truth to his logic and I bought it for his birthday.
This is what you'd expect. Just one minor complaint... the boat pieces hardly "fit" in place, so it wouldn't travel well. A slight tip, and the boats fall right out. Other than that, the kids love this game!
