Nice Little Critter books that teach kids not to lie. Grandpa tells Little Critter that “God says that if you lie, you’ll never be happy” and Little Critter agrees. These series, illustrated by Thomas Nelson, are religion-based - although it’s more like “how to remember God among everyday life situations” rather than anything else. Lovely books, same Little Critter, but with a touch of faith.
This may be a plus or minus depending what you’re looking for, but this is one of the new Little Critters with a Christian message. LC learns about lying from the Bible and so forth. I wish these were more clearly labelled on Amazon — they are not by the original author.
My young son reads a lot of old Little Critter books I have from when I was a kid, and a couple newer collection books, so we got this one as a stocking stuffer for Christmas.. and while it's a great story about telling the truth, the random pages including God and the Bible were pretty out of place. Maybe that's par for the newer LC books, but not what I'm used to. I'm not saying it's wrong that it's in there, just a heads up in case a family that has different beliefs is looking to purchase.
We love little critter. We have so many books featuring him and little sister. So when I saw this newer one I bought it on sight without reading the reviews or description that clearly states “faith based”. I ended up having to make up the story while reading it to our four year old. We are not religious at all and I was just looking for a decent book about lying and it’s consequences. But not one that inserts god into the picture. Be warned! Wish the new books featuring little critter weren’t religious/Christian books. Safe to stick with the old titles!
