This is a good book for little ones to get an idea of what a new year's resolution is and that helping others is a good thing. However, there is nothing in here to help kids actually make resolutions. So you need to have a lesson plan that uses this book but goes beyond this book for the kids to think of things they can do to better themselves and help others. Its the best New Year's book we have found so far for young kids addressing this topic.
This book is a must have for the start of a new year. Normally I try to get one from the library but I have to get one really early (November) so I can get my hands on one. I end up having the students watch someone read it online if I'm too late. This was a good deal and now I won't have to run and get one every year. I much rather read to them myself and have the book as a reference. There are wonderful online lessons that go along with this book and promots being helpful, kind and that everyone is unique.
I bought this book to read to students over a zoom meeting for a lesson. The letters "fi" are missing from the entire book and only a blank spot is there, leaving only part of a word. Is there a reason for this?
I appreciate the solid definition of a New year's resolution and it was fine for the purpose of teaching my small children about resolutions but that's it. It was fine, adequate, okay. There was nothing outstanding. It is a good serviceable story
This was a great text to read to my kindergarten class. We read it to talk about our new goals for the year & then wrote about our goal. It is nice that Squirrel had to think about what he wanted and that other animals shared theirs. My students could relate and follow the story line.
