4.0 out of 5 starsI hate how much I loved this 'teenage story'!

The last book which I read was 'Call me by your name. It was also YA, in a way. But very poetic and deep and yada yada yada. I didn't have any such expectations from this one. Actually, I got tricked into reading this after I saw the trailer to the movie. The book started out all right. There's a teenager who's too mature for his age dealing with other teenagers who are too much mature for their ages. Nothing is simple about these teenagers- school, their friendships, even their siblings. Simon's family though- truly a bunch of weirdos who are absolutely adorable. This book sort of simplifies teen coming out. I'd say that. But it gave me so much joy to see teenagers coming out in ideal situations. I mean, why not? Maybe some of them have been blessed with understanding parents, siblings and friends. We need more stories like this- positive reinforcement. Towards the end though, I'm warm and fuzzy from inside. Throughly enjoyed reading it.
