This book is excellent for artists interested in the human body especially beginners.Good guidance on how to proceed .Tips on life drawing classes and what to do to build up to the finished drawing are fantastic .
I'm an illustrator, painter and a sculptor and without the shadow of a doubt this is the best anatomy book specifically written for artists that I have ever seen (I'm 37, so I have seen many and searched for a good book for years). The images are clear, superb and useful, the paper and binding are great and durable and the text is easy to read and follow. It has everything related to anatomy that I need as an artist. If you need anatomy reference and/or want to learn anatomy for artistic purposes I would definitely recommend this book. This is the book I had been searching for!
I became so excited about the masterly quality of this book that I wrote the author to thank her for her amazing work. This is the book to get if you want to improve your skills in drawing human anatomy in movement. I warmly recommend this book if you are serious about your art.
I started by reading Classic Human Anatomy by this author and found this book fairly similar BUT just as useful! This is definitely a complete guide to anatomy, and the end features sections on drawing motion, gesture drawing and constructing the body from shapes. It features a lot of useful information, and while it isn't an easy read, it will definitely help you improve your understanding of anatomy!
I have many books on anatomy for artists and figure drawing. None have the depth and comprehensiveness of Ms Winslow's latest effort. She writes clearly and conveys the complexities of the body in ways that are interesting and easy to absorb. The book deals with anatomy from the skeleton out to the surface. It intensively focuses on parts and also their relationship to other parts. Her section on the head and the muscles that give expression is the best I have come across. The last sections examine the body in total and in motion. These sections very clearly expressed and illustrated. It is a very complete book that fills a number of gaps in this area of publishing.
