My daughter and I love these stories, so I bought his one. I know it says based on the character by Rob Scotton, but I wasn’t expecting it to be quite so different. The illustrations are exactly the same but it’s for an American audience and the use of mom and cents took away from the original non geographical nature of Ron’s actual books. Also Seymour talks...(not a spoiler), just like it was usual. I know I’m being pedantic but I wish I’d known before I bought it.
My kiddo loves cats so Splat being a cat is the real reason why we buy this book series. The stories are fun, a bit difficult to read for a 5 year old but we take it a page at a time. It has a good introduction to the new words on the fist page and they all follow same pronunciation rule. This really helps a child get used to seeing the world and pronouncing it correctly. I recommend this book and others in the Splat the Cat collection.
