Gostei do livro! Divertido e inteligente! Amigos de infância, Nora e Dash se reencontram, depois de anos, em uma situação inusitada. Daí para frente, tudo pode acontecer... pena que é um livro curtinho (novela)!
I really liked this. I have read all of the spindle cove series books, and this one was a fun departure from the normal characters, while still featuring the personalities that we have fallen in love with. I am definitely going to read this again.
[ She’d always been affected by the sheer size of him. He was hewn from trunks and planks, where other men were carved from branches.
His broad table of shoulders, massive hands . . . They made her feel delicate, the way no one else had ever done. Few would look at sturdily built, fiery-haired Nora Browning and think “delicate.” But she was, deep down. There were parts of her spun from floss and held together with hope—and those bits were fragile indeed.
Here was the man who’d destroyed them. ]
What a cute novella! Just what I needed to go to sleep with a huge grin on my face last night. Tessa Dare is a real hit or miss with me, but thankfully when she's a hit, she really does it well. The Spindle Cove series overall has been terrific; the two I haven't liked thus far were the first and fourth ones, but the others have been fantastic.
Great novella that has it all: terrific leading characters, compelling story, romance, humor, and chemistry. The hero and heroine have a long history together, which always makes a novella more likely to be successful, since starting a relationship from scratch in so few pages is challenging. Loved the ending and how it was all wrapped up; so cute!!!
And oh how wonderful it was to see Colin again! ::sigh:: Could have done without so much Pauline and Griff; I know we just got off their story in Book 4, but that was one of the books I didn't like (DNF'd it), so I feel like those pages could have instead been devoted to Nora and Dash—why take away from the main characters when you already have so little space given it's a novella?
This was a lovely, sweet, romantic and sexy Spindle Cove novella by an author that never disappoints. Nora Browning has been left heartbroken and desolate after the childhood friend she has loved all her life suddenly leaves her high and dry in a public fashion choosing to travel the world as a cartographer instead of marrying her. Instead of retiring to the country in shame Nora pours all her frustration into writing and publishing a pamphlet called Lord Ashwood Missed Out which soon becomes a girl power screed. She becomes a sought after author and speaker. Meanwhile, the cause of her despair and humiliation returns after many years abroad looking for answers. Lord Dashwood wants to know exactly what it was he missed out on.
This is a road trip, childhood friends, unrequited love story. Basically all my favorite tropes stuffed inside one delightful package. Like all Tessa Dare books, it is well written and full of humor and romance not to mention the hot love scenes. I'm also happy to report that for a novella the characters and plot are well developed. There are appearances by previous characters in the series but this book can definitely stand alone. My only quibble is that I didn't understand fully why Lord Dashwood left Nora. Seemed that that part of the plot could have used a little more clarification. Quick excellent read and I highly recommend it. 4 1/2 stars
I always find Ms. Dare 's writing to be effortlessly funny and this book is no different. However I did question how she was going to redeem the hero. It was close but in the end I felt he was redeemed. The scenes with lord Halford and his band of merry men were funny but it felt like they belonged in another book. Maybe they make more sense if you've read the other books in the series? Overall enjoyable.
