3.0 out of 5 starsDecent but exaggerates sometimes
Reviewed in India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ on 8 April 2022
A good primer to know about famous women scientists (apart from curie) but exaggerates the work or importance here and there. Would suggest those who read this to vet the story on each scientist separately as well.

Women in Science is neatly and simply written and gloriously illustrated by Rachel Ignotofsky. This book is short- can be read in 1, 2 or 3 days but it is also the kind that will make you want to come back to it again and again! Wonderful and informative.

3.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring read!

This book consists of 50 profiles of prominent women who have been in the field of science since the beginning of time. It has beautiful illustrations with precise information about their achievements. It was absolutely lovely to read about so many women working towards their ambitions and defying society in the best way i.e through education. But it was also heartbreaking to read that they were not being recognised for their discoveries and findings and had to work with a male member as a subordinate and then the men took credit for their work. To even think that there was a time when women were not allowed for higher education or even basic education makes me feel thankful for the people before me who fought for this day where girls like me can study as much as we want to. I hope I can contribute to the society with my educational background and actually help those in need. Highly recommended, you guys. Read this book. Read it to your children. Read it your nieces and nephews. Let them know how far we've come and how far we still need to go.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book for girls and boys

I bought this for my 13 yr old niece. But my 9 yr old nephew enjoyed reading it a lot more. Nice feminist book that teaches us about many women in science we may not know of. Only itโ€™s easy to finish reading in an hour. They could have made it a soft cover for lesser the price instead.

Pros:
Beautiful illustrations and design
Looks and feels premium. Kids who are not so much into reading will also love this
Though the book focuses on STEM it will appeal to all. Also you have a glossary at the back of book to help understand scientific terms
Good coverage of women across fields and geographies

This book is perfect in a perfectly imperfect way.
