I really loved this book and it had tons of great information. My only issue is that I want to create a natural skincare regimen that can fully replace my current one. Almost all of these recipes have to keep refrigerated which is just not what I want. I would have loved to learn about some safe preservative methods to be able to keep these in the bathroom like I do with my conventional products. Other than that, I loved the book. There is a lot of information on ingredients so you could really make it your own.
I like this book as it is full of recipes that are quite doable at home. I like the pictures in the book, and the explanations of ingredients given at the beginning. This is the kind of book I have been looking for for a while on natural care, and beauty advice. I have a lot of ingredients that I have been acquiring and hoping to use them in various natural recipes. While I do have a lot already, I think some of the ingredients given in the book are quite obscure like willow bark, lucuma powder, different kinds of oil. I think they are probably available online, and that is where I would look for them. Other than difficulty in finding the ingredients, I think the recipes are explained well and in detail.
I also like how usage and storage instructions are provided. These are usually hard to find, and whenever I make a homemade recipe, I often wonder about how long the mixture is going to be usable for. This is one great advantage that I see in this book.
Some of the recipes that I like use bentonite clay mask as an ingredient, which I haven't seen before in books, and this has become quite a common ingredient now, and usually you would just apply the mask itself, but in this book it is suggested to mix the clay in for more recipes. Another similar ingredient that I have at home is Dead Sea mud, and it is also used here as an ingredient which is great!
I have been using and reviewing a lot of vitamin C serums recently, and this book actually gives a recipe of a homemade version! This is great as I think this is such a good serum to use - it truly helps and regenerates your skin.
I also know that steam is great for exfoliation, and as I had a lot of acne while growing up, I have to say that I used steam a lot for skin cleansing. Now, this book actually gives different steam recipes, so it is not simply plain hot water vapor that is used, but a mixture of aromatic ingredients that will definitely make you feel like you are at a spa, for a fraction of the cost!
I am overall impressed with the number of recipes in the book, and there are so many new and fresh ideas! I hope to use lots of recipes with my kids in the next little while!

I have always had very sensitive, problem prone skin. I cannot believe how helpful this book is. I love how in the beginning she breaks down different skin types and the different things that we put on our skin. And she really breaks down why each kind of thing (cleanser, toner, serum, moisturizer, mask, steam, etc.) is important and what it has to do. Then she gives all kinds of all natural recipes for things it will actually be good for skin. I have been wanting to move away from having so many chemicals in my life and on and in my body. This book is really helpful on my path to do that. And she is great about explaining that it does not have to be a "all or nothing endeavor." The recipes all have really user-friendly ingredients. It's stuff that I know what it is, may already have some, or know how to get some. It's not crazy weird things that I will have to ship in from the other side of the planet. This is the kind of stuff I have literally spent hundreds of hours searching and scouring the Internet for, and only found a few decent recipes, and here's a whole book full of all really great stuff! I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
A bit disappointed. I would've like the recipes to include ingredients to preserve them so they last longer than a couple weeks (such as face cleansers). Don't get me wrong, I want clean skin care but it would be nice to have the option to include natural preservatives (and the amounts to use) in them so I can give them as gifts or make a larger batch before some of the fresh ingredients go off.
The recipes are great for those of you who stock every kind of oil in your pantry. (I'm not sure that person exists).
An ideal recipe book would have a variety of recipes that can be made from a similar set of ingredients like a cleanser-toner-scrub with a theme of ingredients like honey and oats so I don't have to purchase completely different stuff for each thing.
There are many good recipes in this book., however some mix castile soap and vinegar, kind of a "no-no"... some call for a bunch of ingredients (all good and skin loving) to make a cup or two of "tea" for a recipe that you only use a teaspoon or two for - I guess you could freeze the rest in ice trays or something - it just seems a little wasteful of the herbs to me personally... and like 90% of the recipes need to be refrigerated. That's fine, but my bathroom is on the second floor... it's just not realistic for me to make products that I can't keep in the bathroom. It's a decent book, It's just not my match, and definitely not my "go to" for diy skin care. I stick with my Organic Body Care by Stephanie Tourles I purchased the kindle version - It wasn't a waste of money, but I wouldn't call it a good investment either. I'm glad it's digital, I probably wouldn't keep a paper copy.
If you are looking for natural skin care products and have a viable option to toxic products on the market, then this book is for you. This book makes it possible to make your own natural skin care products in your home. The book has all the information to be an expert product maker. You can have all natural products for yourself and you can make extra to give to family friends. The author provides lists of all the utensils needed, ingredients and an awesome variety of recipes. Each ingredients is listed with an explanation of the benefits, what type you should buy and more. I am loving this book. I finally have a healthy alternative to the products in the store. I give this a five star rating due to the depth of information and the ease in which you can start making your own products, tomorrow!! I received this product for free to review, all opinions are my own.
Very disappointed in book. Recipes call for the strangest ingredients. Certainly not any items you would have around the house or could buy easily. EX - try + find goat milk powder! Or soy milk powder! Or Tallow something or other! Amazon carries most of the ingredients you will need but the prices make the items too expensive to make. Buy a different book!
The formulas are very limited and most of the content are about some general stuff that you would know it by google it. Especially for some otherwise expensive cosmetic products, such as eye cream or face cream, the book said very little about them. I am a bit disappointed.
There are recipes for coconut lip balm and coconut body butter, both of which I made. The lip balm soured with in days. I had to throw out the entire batch. I haven't yet checked the body butter...or the goat milk body butter...TBC
I really like this book i like the down to earth ingred for the recipes i hate getting a book to find out you cant afford or find certain ingred theres alot to choose from and im gonna enjoy trying each n every one .
