I have always like Ina Garten and both her show on TV and her books. But this book disappointed me in that most of the receipes were rather "chi-chi" and not like her at all. I live in a small town and find it difficult to get some of the ingredients and she does not offer substitutions. All in all, not one of her best in my opinion.
I think that as long as one understands that Ina is about excellent quality ingredients prepared simply, then one will not be disappointed. But if you're looking for unusual food combinations and trendy cooking ideas, this may not be the book for you...
Really disappointed with this one. From all of these recipes, I bookmarked only about 7. * though did not include any desserts * I appreciate Ina's work very much. However, I really don't think that Ina was serving Jeffrey Kale Salads or naked cauliflower recipes back in the day. To me, this is more of eating healthy cookbook. Which is fine, but I already know and have cookbooks on that subject. Tons frankly. I was expecting recipes that they used throughout their many decades of marriage. That is definitely not what this cookbook is about. Perhaps the advertising of what this cookbook is really about, needs to be revisited.
I love watching Ina Garten and her recipes. I was very excited to get Cooking for Jeffery, but it was not what I was expecting. The recipes just did not seem to fit the title. I guess I was looking for a lot of her recipes from her shows and that was not the case. I still think she is awesome & I love how she tells you exactly how much to use & tips along the way!
I love Ina Garten and have several of her books. I figured I’d like this one cuz I cook for my hubby a lot. Unfortunately, it’s not really my favorite. The recipes aren’t so much about eating as a couple and Jeffery’s favorites aren’t all even in this book. :(
