How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

WARNING CONTAINS SPOILERS

Usually I read a lot and this series was definitely one of my favorites, but the ending ruined the whole book and series. I can't believe the author made Aaron die and throw Call in jail. I am usually good at figuring out the plot of a book before it happens so I knew Alex was the spy but the characters being dumb enough to go to the woods alone when they knew it was a trap and they were being hunted is very disappointing. Also making Call give up his huge secret in front of everyone is way out of character. The ending off the book was VERY BAD and I will not be finishing the series. What a good series to be ruined by a bad ending. Even though the authors had in mind for Aaron to die from the end of the first book it did not fit in with the plot at all. Aaron's death was random and unrealistic, If you are trying to save someone just step in front of the beam because you won't be harmed by it. What I really don't like is how Call is slowly turning into his former self. I think it is very unnerving to see such a great character slowly decaying until he becomes "The Enemy of Death." Call revealing his secret was random and unnecessary. Because of the ending the book will never be the same, and not in a good way. Most of the book was good and had suspense, but the ending ruined everything for me. If you are looking at buying this book take my advice and DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. By the end of the book Call's existence is so pitiful that I would be happy for him if someone killed him. For some reason in this book Call was not even close to as cautious about his secret and stopped using his secret term for "The Enemy of Death" part way through the book. Overall the book was good, but the ending is so bad that I wish I could go lower than 1 star for a rating.
