How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Very sad that this installment turned me from someone who was thoroughly enjoying the series, and looking forward to the remainder...to having no desire to waste either my time or money further. Reasons:

1) For the price, an absolute ripoff. Though not a hard and fast rule, there is certainly the expectation that all books in a series will be approximately the same price. Most are. But at 50+ pages shorter than the first book, and also shorter than the second, making the price over twice as high is insulting. All the worse since, where the first two books made some effort at completeness within themselves, this one is pure, lazy, Saturday-matinee-style cliffhanger.

2) Compared to the first two, sloppy plotting and inconsistent quality. If a book is not ready for "prime time", don't rush it into publication because you're greedy. No, that might not have been the authors' motivation. But that's the overwhelming impression this gives.

3) Pointless plot twist that - along with everything else - left me completely cold on reading more. Avoiding spoilers here, but anyone who has read this knows what I mean. We read partly because we want to spend time with the characters, for heavens' sake. Yet another example of sloppy (or lazy) plotting

4) Characterization is also far inferior and inconsistent. Previously actions made sense in context. But this installment sadly tends toward the now all-too-frequent device of "drama" being artificially generated by a character doing something out-of-character AND stupid.

I really tried not to be so harsh. I even waited a few weeks, and read this a second time, to be fair, thinking perhaps I'd simply been in the wrong mood. Nope. It actually made me even more fed up.

2.0 out of 5 stars Authors politics are evident.

The beginning of the end in this series. In this book the author starts the small references to gay politics that bombard the next book, and kill the storyline. At least there is a little focus on the storyline in this one, unlike the next one. Might as well stop at the second book in this series. It just gets weird after that.

2.0 out of 5 stars LAAAAAAME Ending!

The ending was horribly painful. I'll try not to be a spoiler...but let's just say--the written choreography of the ending was nothing like the other books. Everything was out of whack--not just for the characters but also in the writing. It was painfully stupid in a way.Absolutely, totally lame. There would have been so many better ways to accomplish what happened in the end. LAME-O!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not many pages.

The story is very good and exciting. The reason I give it only three stars is the books seem to be smaller and smaller it gets good and then you have to buy another book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bit of a let down

This book did not live up to the high quality of the first two. Not much happened for most of the book and then it was all over in a flash. The ending was heart breaking. Not a fan of this book which is a massive shame as I loved the other two.
