This is one of those books which, I am sure, was a pathbreaking book during the time it was written. The storyline depicts the era of post-independent India when Universities still had functional libraries and academicians were still respected people.
The love story which has been depicted in the book tries to draw a line between its several kinds, and in those days this brave classification must have enticed the young readers of that time.
Today, in year 2020, I would say this book would come across as any other book which has lost its uniqueness in these many decades.
