This book has come at a point of my life when I have finally found the courage to break away from the chains I had bound myself to for so many years. I didn't even realize or rather I was in denial of the unhappiness that the path I had chosen for myself, was bringing to me. I realize now that within me resides the power to make the change and to take that giant leap forward. Every word that Beth has written down, resonated with me so clearly and distinctly , giving me hope and a renewed spirit that freedom is actually possible. I am still afraid. But I am hopeful that I can actually make something meaningful out of my life. And this book will be one of the stepping stones towards that path of freedom and acceptance. Thank you Beth, and I say this from the bottom of my heart.
In order to appreciate this book you have to be female and also have children. Maybe 10% of this book is relatable to someone who doesn’t have children. Maybe 5% of that is useful.
If you for a really sad reason don’t have children either because you never have or you don’t have them anymore this book is to be avoided. Children and parenting are rammed down your throat on every page.
I was looking for an objective book that would apply to all people or at least the majority. The scenarios are unrealistic and unattainable making it impossible for them to feel remotely in reach. Potentially leaving the reader in a more lonely place than before they started reading.
I bought both the paperback and the audio book to make sure I digested it fully as I had high hopes. These hopes were totally dashed.
I am a runner and get really fed up with the plethora of articles on ‘mums that run’. It seems fashionable at the moment to be a mother and not a person. That you are nothing unless you have a weak bladder and stretch marks.
Beth writes beautifully, her attitude is sunny but enough about being a parent, babies, pregnancy.....enough!
This book has given me a dialogue for my life. 💕 Like so many of the others that have read it, I couldn't put the book down and read it straight through, so I'm now reading it a second time and completing all of the exercises. Again, like so many others that have read the book, I have taken redundancy from a corporate job that I had worked in for 19 years (which I am so relieved to be out of btw), and spent the last year as a mum and housewife for the last year. It's been great to decompress but I was so institutionalised by my previous role, that I felt nervous about taking control of my life and looking for the right direction. I had a stack of ideas but never acted on them for fear of going it alone and working for myself. I've now got my first freelance role and am very excited. This book inspired me in the same way that Elizabeth Gilbert's "Big Magic" did, and I am spreading the word to so many of my professional friends who have all recently taken redundancy from corporate roles and are trying to start their own businesses. This is definitely the kind of book that you keep referring back to for guidance and inspiration - I loved the amazing case studies and want to visit the yoga retreat in Costa Rica and I'll definitely be visiting Mettricks in Southampton, as it's not too far from us. I really can't praise this book enough, it has lifted my spirits and been a huge inspiration at a time when I desperately needed it.
This book spoke to my soul and I just couldn’t put it down!
I often find myself feeling split in two – juggling the responsibilities of motherhood, work and running a house with carving out time for me – to do what I love, to focus on my own hopes and dreams and to plan for the future.
Freedom Seeker reminded me about the power of choice and helped me to identify what I need to do more and less of in order to feel happier and more fulfilled on a daily basis.
I finished the book feeling confident and positive about who I am, what I really want from life, and how I’m going to get there.
Beth’s words are real and relatable, inspiring and insightful, encouraging and empowering. They will touch your heart, open your mind and set you free.
I purchased this after reading Beth's book Wabi Sabi - a totally different book, honestly written with exercises. I have read a lot of self-help books and the strategies and advice in this book are useable. I like the exercises although haven't completed all of them yet - they do highlight where you have lost your way. I didn't blow me away but sometimes the ones that don't resonate more, I also like the examples she gives - she has an awful lot of amazing friends! It is nice to read a book like this from a young British author, written with non of the psycho-babble you often find in these type of books. Recommend if you want to change your life gradually with thought.
If you ever find yourself wondering what life is all about, feeling trapped, powerless, or struggling with your purpose, in this book, Beth will help you to see your life from a different perspective. She writes in a relaxed easy style, and she uses language and imagery that is simple to understand. I have had many lightbulb moments as I read, and find myself scribbling notes so that I won't forget her wise words. If you have always been told you're a dreamer, you can't, you shouldn't - this book will change the way you see yourself, and if you are brave enough to follow her advice, you can become your true self.
First, I have pre order This book and when it arrived, I was very happy to start reading it at once. I didn't finish it still for you need to do some "work", so I am savouring it...but need to tell everyone that this is something that works, it opens your eyes and eventually you start analysing your life and you say to yourself-yes, actually this is easy, let's see what is the fact and what is your respond on this fact...you can change this and that, you can make everyday life much, much easier, yes, you can slow down ..... It is written in the way that you have a feeling that you are sitting and talking with the author. Have patience and follow suggestions. In meanwhile I bought one more copy as a present to friend. I like Freedom Seeker very much. Thank you Beth for sharing.
After years of dipping in and out of feeling unfulfilled, lost and in a state of 'stuck-ness' in my daily grind and attempted creative endeavours, I purchased this book on an, initially, rather cynical whim.
However, I can now say with conviction, this book has left me feeling encouraged and invigorated by Beth's words and inspiring stories. I truly cannot believe the change I have seen in myself already, this is a book that will speak to your soul and shine a light on the potential that so many of us often fail or forget to see in ourselves.
I can't commend Beth enough for providing such an invaluable tool, this is a book that I will come back to time and time again, when I need a whisper of encouragement or just a gentle nudge in the right direction when i'm feeling lost or weighed down.
I've now made a promise to myself to start living life to the fullest, to allow creativity, mindfulness, freedom and gratitude to flow through me, and although that's so often easier said than done, I know for sure it's a lot easier now that Freedom Seeker has come into my life.
Freedom Seeker is, as is usual with anything Beth touches, wonderful, inspiring, and beautifully done. Reading it feels like you're talking to an old friend who knows you better than anyone. The words and stories are aproachable and accessible getting you into the right frame of mind to answer the questions which are perfectly timed and get you to dig deep. You could read it cover to cover and receive some benefit, but it is perhaps viewed best as a 'read as you go' mini course. Taking the time to work through the questions and excercises will mean you really benefit from the life changing insights this book can reveal in you. If you feel trapped in your life, or even feel like it's great but is missing just that little something, Freedom Seeker will help.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough and it has come to me at a time when I really need it. I have 3 month old amazing twin baby girls (after several rounds of IVF) and have just been made redundant, so I am worrying and need to get some clarity back to focus on me again too. The Freedom Keys are giving me so many ideas and are inspiring. I have put several in to practise already and I'm feeling much more positive and excited. I see so many possibilities ahead. I have bought this book for my mother in law who is retired, my sister in law who has teenage children and several of my friends. ALL of them love it and are getting something different out of it. Freedom Seeker is much better than any other 'self help' style book I have read because it's so practical and relevant. Beth's writing is engaging and friendly. I cannot urge you enough to buy this book!
