Just one word for "Shri Paramhans Yoganand" is Luxurious Yogi, yes luxurious and lavish Yogi, Sanyaasis stay away from material world but Yogananad ji is so full of life's every luxury, he is the one who owns Ford car and that is too from America directly and imported the same car to India, lolz is that really a sign of being a Yogi or Sanyaasi?
I had lost interest many time while reading because few chapters are really boring but chapter number 43 is extremely interesting and very good, one must read it! You will surely have no sorrows & attachments for your loved ones those who are dead! This chapter should be read more then 1, twice, thrice or even ten times and even if you are not satisfied I would say read it hundreds of time, no not just 100 but read it thousands of time or just keep reading it until you are satisfied.
There are straight away praising about Christianity and about Lord Jesus Christ which is good to read and standing a very good example of showing very good equilibrium between Sanatan Dharma & Christianity BUT let me tell you that this trying of equilibrium would really make you to think many time while reading that, Are you really reading any book that is based on Sanatan Hindu Dharma? because there are too many references and mentioning of examples about Christianity or i can say maximum of them are on Christianity which would make you feel good up to some extent but somewhere you will surely feel that Sanatan Hindu Dharma is being deviated! (this is strictly my personal view)
Very good to read about Shri lahiri Mahashay, Shri Yukteshwar Giri ji, and the loved one Shri Babaji... very nicely narrated chapters are those, but then too... many time i felt while reading even those chapters that it lacks that feeling "Bhaav" (again not sure due to poor translation since i have read this in my mother tongue Gujarati)
This book from starting i was feeling like i am reading a adventurous novel of some immature enthusiast and nothing else, whatever part was mentioned about Shri Yukteshwar ji, Shri Lahiri Mahashay and the loved one the Babaji was good apart from whatever mentioned in the book of travelling across the America, Europe was sounding me like very common even though it was mentioned that at various places in those countries their Yogashrams are established.
With this view I do not doubt the Kriya Yoga BUT this book 110% lacks the essence of "Bhakti" rather it simply mentions about raw travelling, few meetings with some saints that too very very small conversation along with them... In many cases it clearly shows from the story narration that many of the saints simply was "Maun" and didn't talk with Yoganand Ji... in short too much focused on western countries, just one chapter sums up about the culture of India and few after that have descriptions about it. Lot of praising and appreciation about western stuff instead of our own country. The mentioning about Shri Anandmayi Ma, the whole chapter about her is very good like chapter number 43, i loved it.
What was done by Shri Yoganand Ji in western countries was even possible without having "Sanyaas Diksha", what he has done is the job of Yogacharya, very sorry to express this view about him but this is how i am feeling
Over all this book is good to read once!
