3.0 out of 5 stars A Genuine Fraud

Genuine Fraud by E Lockhart seems to be an experiment in writing. The whole book keeps going back to the past. It's like running a race in the opposite direction. E Lockhart brings some interesting characters to the fore but on the whole the storyline seems unappealing. There was no mystery to figure out, the book is a story of how a woman manages to impersonate her friend and how she is able to get away with it by showing her fighting skills. The book has not much to offer to mystery lovers , neither does it offer any suspense. It is best a simple sleepy read.

3.0 out of 5 stars This book was disappointing..
Reviewed in India 🇮🇳 on 25 September 2021
This book is about a girl name Jule who is a spy. She has a best friend named Imogen. Both of them are orphans, but nobody knows what Jule is. She changes her style so that people can’t recognize her. She has many names, passports, and IDs. To some, she is Jule and to some she is Imogen. Jule has murdered many, was in a relationship with two or three. But, what is she escaping from? Does Imogen exist? Read this book to find out!

So, I’m kind of disappointed with this book. The plot was strong and interesting, but the story kept revolving around the past. The suspense and mystery were great. But, the past and present were not even connecting! There were many loose ends in the story. The main character, Jules is shown great, but if the story would have revolved more around the present it would have been a hit! The thing I LOVE about E. Lockhart’s writing is that she expresses emotions and feelings in a metaphoric format!

4.0 out of 5 stars A decent psychological thriller
Reviewed in India 🇮🇳 on 23 May 2018
Genuine Fraud' is a novel beautifully written. It's my very first novel of @elockhartbooks and I'm thoroughly impressed. With short chapters and shorter sentences it was quite a quick and compelling read. Though there were a few loose-ends, it's one of the best psychological thrillers I have come across. Definitely gonna get my hands on her other novels!
.
Also, it is written in reverse order which is unique and amusing.💄🕶

4.0 out of 5 stars A 4.5⭐ read

Do you think a person is as bad as her worst actions?...I mean, do our worst actions define us when we're alive? Or, do you think human beings are better than the very worst things we have ever done?

A psychological thriller laced with a quick hearterd non coherent alliteration of words and an unique view point.

It's been long since I got head on with a 5/5.
So much for my happy ending?

4.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book
Reviewed in India 🇮🇳 on 4 February 2018
I loved this book. Though the storyline is quite predictable, I was hooked till the last with its captivating narration and ingenious plot setting. The author has brilliantly portrayed the broken, monstrous part of the protagonist. I liked how the plot unfolded in reverse timelines shedding lights on what lead whom to where. It tells us what a person with efficient, yet twisted mind is capable of. This book is a quick read with its fast paced plot. I absolutely recommend it to one and all.

Genuine Fraud is one of those gripping thrillers that catch your attention ( and eye- look at the excellent cover) and hold it. It's one of those books you finish in one go and one that can be made into a really good movie.

Reviewed in India 🇮🇳 on 13 July 2018
Let me begin with saying that thriller is my favorite genre to read no matter what they intrigue me a lot and I end up falling in love with everything that’s going on. How the whole book develops and in the end you either guessed it right or you didn’t. Once you find out you didn’t you’d end up going back to check out the instances which built the whole plot and the ending came to be.

But! Yes, but there’s a big but for this book. The whole thriller plot is revealed in the beginning itself and the whole book turned out to be too predictable that enjoying it was just so impossible for me. The characters of both the girls were intriguing to say the least at first but later as you go deeper into the book they end up becoming a disappointment. Especially Jules the main MC of the book. Its said to be a psychological thriller but to be honest it was just psychotic nothing thrilling about it. I just ended up getting sick in the end of both the main MC’s Jules. A girl thriving to take someone else’s identity as her own and living a lie is just too psychotic for my liking.

This book was given to me by Bloomsbury India in exchange for an honest review.
