I generally don't do horror/fantasy stuff, and I'm at least 30 years too old to be classed as Zombie 18's target audience, but I still galloped through this and was thoroughly entertained all the way. That should tell you all you need to know. It goes along at a real clip and is written with great economy - Cowsill keeps his literary head down and (like all the best writers) lets his story and characters do all the heavy lifting. Top stuff - great entertainment for teenagers aged 15 to 50+
A decent, pacy, zombie-thwacking read, narrated by a hero who – just – manages to keep a lid on his panic. And like the hero, best not think too deeply about the absolute horror of the new world order. By the end I wanted more. Perhaps there'll be a sequel?
I really enjoyed this book. It was well written, the characters were well developed, and the pacing had me turning the pages until the end. I haven't been reading zombie stories for long, but I've read quite a few and this was one of the best ones I've read. The MC was a true hero, the supporting cast memorable, and the villain was so evil I wanted to reach into the kindle and strangle him myself. I'm only sorry that this isn't a series because I would have kept reading more. If you're a fan of zombie stories, please give this one a chance. You won't be disappointed.
