I found Bound by Revenge while searching for suspenseful reads by Indian authors on Amazon and I am so glad that I read this book. Absolutely stunning, I have found two incredibly talented authors, MV Kasi, and PG Van through this book and I can't stop raving about their writing styles.
The first book in the Singham Bloodlines series, Bound by Revenge is a brutally engaging read. It sucks you into a world that is reeling from decades old feud among three powerful families that has already claimed so many lives and still continues to claim more. In this violent world, everyone has hidden depths to their characters and the three powerful families lay down the law.
An alpha hero who comes across as beastly and a seemingly meek heroine, the protagonists were able to fool me with their first impressions and then left me wide-eyed and completely in love with their development as the story progressed.
Njkinny highly recommends Bound by Revenge and give it super shiny 4.5 stars out of 5. A must-read book, this book has everything right from a crisp and masterfully executed storyline to unpredictable twists and turns to characters that are delightfully wicked but totally adorable. The first book that has made me fall in love with grey-shade characters that are unrepentant for their almost seemingly villainous actions and still make my heart go aflutter when they show their real self, Bound by Revenge has earned its place in Njkinny's list of the Best of Books of 2018. I have already re-read this book four times and each time it still manages to surprise me. It is that good!
I feel short of words to describe my experience reading this book and then the subsequent books in The Singham Bloodlines series that I happily admit I obsessively devoured one after the other. Don't wait and go read this book and then the whole series. You can thank me later!
The whole novel is about a bizarre world playing into western orientalist fantasies about a tribal warring oriental land where 'no rules apply ' and it's jungle raj with patronising good men of royalty being the overlords who try and maintain control over bloodied feuds. Not only it is rubbish in the current reality of India, it also disgustingly normalises brutality and violence for the good of the people by the scions of royal families.
I recently started reading books M.V.Kasi, when I came across The Singham Bloodline series, I searched the order and downloaded all books and started reading from Abhimanyu and Devasena's story in Bound by forever. Following there might be spoilers. Before reading, I read description of all the books. When I finished Vijay and Arundathi's story in Bound by Love, I had lots of questions related to the descriptions of the three main books...How Arundathi was killed? Why sabita's father killed Arundathi? Why Singhams and Prajapatis are fighting when Ajay and Neelambri are about to get married? Why Anika is called as Patel instead of Prajapati? But the authors have scripted the story excellent revealing detail by detail still maintaining the thriller in the story keeping the readers captive.
PS: I'm a reader from TN, when the character Neelambri was introduced in Bound by Love, I thought the author just named to keep the character a royal born. But as most of the 90s kid from TN, when I came across the name, the first thing came to my mind was Ramakrishna's role in Padaiyapa movie instead as a name of a Raga. But I was flabbergasted when this Neelambri was exactly inspired from the movie.
Having two of my favourite authors written the story I was really excited about the first book in the series and it stood by my expectations. It was thrilling and exciting from the beginning to end. It made me angsty to know what's gonna happen next and also to know what happened in the past. Abhay and Anika are one of my favourite book couples.. they are meant to be with each other, their characters balance and complete each other like Ying and Yang. A silent alpha hero who is worshipped with forced marriage and the hidden history which lead to everything is a perfect concoction for a great read. Would not want to reveal any of the story but would suggest to read. Loved the read.😁👍
