To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
If I were to rank the individual stories in this book, the Tad and Todd story would get 5 stars, the titular Bippolo seed story would get 4 and the rest would get 3 or below. It hasn't been all that long since I read them and still, I'm having trouble even remembering what a few were even about. While it was interesting to see some of his earlier works (and what must have been the origin for the Cat in the Hat Comes Back in the story of the stain that wouldn't go away), I was a bit disappointed that the illustrations weren't larger in relation to the amount of text. This is not a problem for most of Seuss's books, save for the books written in prose (Bartholomew and the Oobleck, the 500 Hat of Bartholomew Cubbins, etc.) but did seem to be a problem here. Again, the rating is in relation to his other works.
My kids are big Dr Seuss fans, so I grabbed this book as soon as it came out. The stories are OK, but a little disappointing. I think the main problem is that Dr Seuss used many of the themes and rhymes better in his later works (which my kids know as their old Dr Seuss stories).
