To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I heard it was a really wonderful book and bought it for my 11 year old grand daughter. She looked it over and said it was for an 8-9 year old so I guess one must check the language carefully before purchasing.
Very very slim book. I bought for my 12 year old daughter. I have not read the story, but it it is worth noting that it is more of a long story than a book. About 1/3 the pages and about 3/4 the size of “standard” book.
The novel and audio recording is inspiring and engaging to listen to. However, the copy that I received has a flaw for chapter 2... the audio does not read the entire chapter. It was very confusing for my students... we were scrambling and they were lost. The chapter two audio begins towards the end of the chapter. I don't know if I received a flawed copy of the audio or if all copies have this problem. I am going to see if I can exchange my copy for defective.
Not an overly engaging book for my son. We read it together and parts were a bit slow, especially when stories flip back and forth so often. It did allow for some good discussion about adversity and challenges in lives of refugees.
Quick read. It is a good story that left me with a big smile on my face. I didn't realize it would read more like a young adult book. I can imagine school children being assigned this in their curriculum. However, it's still a good read and introduction into the subject matter. Worth it
