This is a perfect book for children and will make you want to read more of Amelia Fang's FANGTASTIC adventures. Join Amelia and her friends as they solve the mystery of the dissapearing memories! This book is definetly recommended.
Amelia Fang and the Memory Thief is the third disgustingly fun installment to this fab-foul-lous series. The setting this time returns to Nocturnia but things are a little different. The events of the previous novel mean that the folks of Nocturnia no longer fear the Creatures of the Light. Fairy exchange students are now welcome in their classes and some of their school lessons include things like Glitterology and Angel Kitten Singing. While the story is still delightfully gross in many ways ( as wonderfully brought to life by Anderson's witty and charming illustrations), it mixes wonderfully with the sugary cuteness of the previous story. In terms of plot I did think (just like a number of reviews I’ve read about this book) that this book is quite weak compared to its predecessors. The plot just isn't quite as awe-inspiring as the previous books and is a little slow to get going. However, it is still a fun read and does do a great job of showing that, even though people can argue and fall out, they still can remain friends. The story is also still completely age-appropriate for young readers. It’s light, fun and easy to follow, packed with delightul humour and illustrations. The plot forms a simple mystery, as Amelia and Tangine race to find out why everyone except for them seem to be losing their memories. Although there are a couple of sad moments, there is certainly nothing that would stop a young reader from thoroughly enjoying this tale. While the book does offer some character development for Amelia and Tangine, the other protagonists don't really feature much this time round. As in the second Amelia Fang book (Amelia Fang and the Unicorn Lords) where Florence and Grimaldi had a meatier role to play with plenty to do, in this third book unfortunately they don't really feature as much as they are amongst the first to loose their memories. Previous characters such as Adonis and the Angel Kitten do get a brief cameo at the end of this book but are not mentioned throughout the rest of the story. The Amelia Fang series is an altogether remarkable read and I would certainly recommend kids to read this highly imaginative series. But out of all three books I find this third installment a touch underwhelming. The front cover with the green foiled edges and the many illustrations are absolutely divine and support the story well. A quality 4⭐️ read.
We love Amelia Fang and her fabulous friends. We've been joking Amelia on her journey since my daughter was 5, and even though the first book sounds barbaric 😉 it's a story of friendship. Laura Ellen Anderson has such a beautiful way of connecting the characters to the reader. It's a book that you can't put down between chapters. Make sure sure you read them all
My daughter loves these books they are a great series for young children to read, full of fancied and excitement. The seller sent this in perfect condition, well wrapped and in good time. Will be ordering the next one on the series soon.
Bought this for our 10 year old granddaughter. The story was ok but none of us really enjoyed it. The black pages throughout the book didn't make for easy reading and the smell from the book/ink wasn't nice. The illustrations were good but we won't be buying more in the series which is a shame as we had hoped to.
Its like a secret world for my 9 year daughter who is slightly obsessed with unicorns... The stories in all three books have a great narrative, twisting the tales of Amelia and her friends from light to dark and back again. We love them and the illustrations are really great. Nice touch on the pages with the different colours, making finding them really easy. We have given a few copies away to my daughter's friends to share this secret world. The author will also answer your tweets and shows she appreciates her fans too. Great stuff!
Another wonderful book in the series - my daughter (6yo) adores them, and I love reading them to her. I have to sneak the book out of her room and read the chapters that she’s read to herself because the story is so good!
I bought this for my niece (age 8) as I know she loves Amelia Fang. Her mum says she whipped through it in a couple of days and kept giggling away while she was reading it. I had a flick through when it arrived here and the pictures inside are amazing, which I think really helps young kids to stay hooked. Will be buying her the next book when it comes out!
