Very fun collection of short stories. If you like scifi I highly recommend. I cannot wait for the individual authors to write more on this. Each story reads like a chapter to a book, but each building on the details of unique perspective within the same universe.
I want more, but I always want more if I like it. I'm the guy who liked Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series due to detail. (Although there was one chapter in the 7th or 8th book where they were in the bath the whole time and it didn't really advance the plot... still confused) But I see this series becoming like that. Lots of fun, huge cast of characters, lots of perspectives.
Well put together overall. I didn't see any glaring mistakes, however I wasn't looking for them, just reading for fun. And I think its a hell of a deal at the price. I've read a lot more, and paid more, from new Amazon authors to think "I've read this before", and lose interest and pick up another book, and this one just keeps moving.
My opinion is that this collection of authors are onto something and I want more. The differences in storytelling within the same universe I think is a winning combination.
This books was recommended to me since I'm a fan of sci fi and military fiction, and I'm glad I picked it up! I was prepared for an anthology of short stories, but didn't realize that they would all be part of one ongoing story. Not just different characters giving their viewpoint, but different authors each using their own approach to tell a self-contained tale. I don't know a lot of these authors (some of them are new), but this was a great read and I'm looking forward to more.
Great collection of short stories. All set in the same universe. Only one story was kind of meh. The rest were excellent. McCune's two short stand out slightly a head of the others. Holmes delivers as usual.
A great concept with a lot of fun stories. "Anthology" isn't quite the right term for it, as it's a shared universe and timeline. While the stories jumped around in place and time, it all tied together well to paint a larger picture. I look forward to future collections.
I almost took a star off for editing. In some cases it looked like there was heavy reliance on spell check rather than eyes on because words were spelled correctly but the wrong one was used, ie "course" instead of "coarse" to describe texture. This is along with smaller "to, too, two" type mistakes.
This anthology of short stories is s salute to the years of classic science fiction. The new authors have stepped and delivered ! Look forward to more and hopefully full works. Spoiler alert, the scouts make an appearance !
The book tries to appear to be "selected best short stories" but it seems these were all written on contract and are mostly mediocre hack jobs. The authors are talented and one hopes they can do better when not on a deadline. The depth is comic book, written for for a tumescent 14 year old male. Occasionally entertaining.
Started reading this book one evening and just couldn’t put it down until I had read the whole thing. I love the one one story ends and another written by a different author picks up that story and carries it forward. Thanks to all the authors from Canon Publishing and cant wait for the next book.
This is an interesting concept about the future of our universe. The separate stories combine well to paint a story of political intrigue, rebellion, and action. Overall, an enjoyable read. That being said, this could garner more stars with professional editing. There are many spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors throughout all the stories and it detracts from the reading.
I wish the authors well on their future endeavors...
Great writing for this book. Many new authors to follow! When is the next book coming out! The Hundred Worlds is a fresh new idea of the sci-fi to be written in. There seems to be a bit of small rules to follow. With a great potential! Even some old friends have shown up! IST1? What a great way to get a bunch of writers together
