Good book. Very interesting and educational. Very sad to hear about all the oppression going on in North Korea but definitely awesome to read about the survival story. Really makes you grateful for America and all the freedoms we have. Great Book!

This was a great book that I'd use in my classroom to expose my students to the hardships of living in North Korea. It's told from the vewpoint of a 16 year old boy who must make the hard decision to leave family and home despite the risks. From the first page, the reader is dropped into the hardships of surviving in North Korea--a country where the poor barely survive. Kids will love it and learn something at the same time.

This is a really interesting, well-written story. Even though it's not a true story, you get a feeling, through the details, of what it's like to be a refugee. I read it with my daughter- it held her interest and I think it gave her more gratitude, and empathy.
