My daughter loves this book and has gone through the whole series of Onjali Rauf’s works. Her talent of writing and capturing the imagination of young people in a world full of crisis nurtures the emotional intelligence for those less fortunate than us, especially those that have come from unfortunate backgrounds. The humanising through the characters introduced in her book inculcate a very much needed togetherness and realisation of the common good that many youngsters need to grow up in and around especially on topics of what are acceptable and not. My daughter has read all of her books, and the virtue she is now learning is patience as she awaits the next book by Onjali. Congratulations Onjali.
Beautifully and sensitively written story. Aniyah's story is brave, tender and utterly heart breaking . Yet The Star Outside My Wdow shines with the strength of its characters and with their love, hope and determination. A moving, compelling story of children dealing with trauma and loss and still having the courage to follow their hearts. A powerful and meaningful story.
This is a wonderful book filled with many plot twists and I believe that this is an inspiring book for many people young and old. This book has taught my son so many excellent things. I would strongly suggest people read this book. 👍👍👍 😀😀😀
My 11 year old couldn’t wait to read this book. She’s loved the authors previous books so this was high on her wish list. She said it was great. Sad in parts and thought provoking. She really enjoyed it and read it in a couple of days. She’s now eagerly awaiting The Night Bus. Thank you Onjali for creating such fabulous books which really capture imagination and make our children think about wider issues.
My nine year old adored it making it one of her favourite books and I did just as much. She said she loved how descriptive it was and could imagine everything about them and their surroundings and it was sad and funny too. She suddenly wants to learn more about the star constellations in the book and was good for helping her understand such issues.
What a brilliant read.... I let my ten year old boy read this book to me, as I was worried he might need help understanding the theme of this book. My son is completely engaged the themes in this book are much much more than the central theme of domestic violence..... Its about friendships about family, the modern family is much more than those people related to you by blood.... I would highly recommend this book to any child of this age group, my son comes from a loving home but I do not see why he should not be exposed to the possible reality of an other childs life!!! We should not wrap them in cotton wool a child does not need protecting from this theme it's about education and letting your child see what struggles others may have. I applaud this author for exploring the central theme of domestic violence, she handles it with great sensitivity and indeed the ability to make it all not doom and gloom, there is triumph in the face of adversity.... 💛💛💛💛💛... 5 star from me and my ten year old!!!!!
