I was super disappointed the book doesn't live up to its name.
I love to the chef at home. Keep lots of ingredients on hand. Make great food quick and delicious.
My interest in this book was strictly to add more recipes to make in my arsenal.
What I feel was received instead is a book with most recipes that aren't practical for me. Many ingredients are not easily acquired for my area.
What this book has done is encourage me to think outside my box even more.
I currently continuously create and improve recipes. With the book, I'm hopeful it'll contribute to more robust creativity in ways I hadn't thought of. But, unfortunately, will be with what I can purchase locally. Or on Amazon.
I have cooked Ramsey's food before- ALWAYS delicious. But - I have only made his meals on special occasions, so I didn't expect them to be quick or easy. Do you have rose harissa sauce, organic pink peppercorns, or fried tofu puffs - just lying around? I don't. Yes, I can get them but that's not the point. For almost EVERY recipe- you will have to make a trip to a specialty food store- just FYI.
Quick is the main selling point of THIS cookbook - it is NOT- if only because of all the extra trips you will have to make to get the damn ingredients!
I am sure all these recipes ARE delicious but "quick" - NO. IF you are a seasoned cook or a professional chef- these recipes probably will be quick and easy for you- but if you are a beginner cook who is short on time - look elsewhere!!! :)
The recipes that I have attempted to make tasted wonderful. The issue is that all of the recipes require some ingredient that you are not going to find at your local grocery store. This makes the book pretty worthless to me. I don't always have the time to go shopping at a speciality store after I go shopping. The book is not something that you can use on a day to day basis because of this, and that was what I was hoping it to be.
Not the best choice for an average home cook. There's probably two recipes in here that I'd make. The rest use expensive or uncommon ingredients, and they don't sound very appetizing to me. I can be a picky eater, but I am open to trying new things; but none of these recipes really called to me. I gave the book to my mom, and she said the same thing--not too many recipes she's interesting in making.
I’m all about trying new things, but this book takes it to a new level! I barley know some of these ingredients and even if I did where in the world am I going to find MILK FROM A SHEEP. Gordon write a book for the everyday cook please sir, we aren’t all 5 star chefs!!
