The books has colorful pictures and is well organized, but so many recipes require special herbs or spices that are not commonly used and are difficult to find here in India. They are also only used in one or two of the book's recipes so even if they can be obtained, the spices and herbs are likely to sit on the shelf unused most of the time. That limits the usefulness of the book.
I was looking forward to this book but wondered when it arrived if the wrong version had been sent. All measurements given in this book are in units aimed at the American market. I.e. quarts, ounces, cups, tablespoon measures for butter. Even can sizes are given in ounces and not grams. This makes this book really difficult for people in the Uk to use and for me just not worth the effort of making all the translations. There are plenty of other good cookbooks out there. Some of the recipes seem nice but I won’t be using them. One of the recipes even starts off ‘set your broiler to high’. We have grills here and some people here wouldn’t even know what a Broiler is. Avoid this book unless you are happy working in American ( not even imperial ) units.
The main problem (for me) with most of the cookbooks is impulse buying after seeing a chef showcasing a recipe from hers or his cookbook. Normally I would take some time to review such book and this was such case as well. Initial reflection was somewhat lukewarm, couple of interesting recipes but nothing outstanding. Having browsed though this book few times now I have made some and book marked other interesting recipes and filed this one under a "keeper".
Great selection of tasty recipes that really can be made quickly. We live a busy life during the week and the recipes in the book have unlocked new possibilities of freshly made meals for the whole family to reduce the reliance on convenience foods. Spend some time setting up your kitchen cupboards with key ingredients listed on this book to reap the full benefits.
Bought this as a gift - has a great range of recipes. While the book claims each recipe will take 30 minutes or less, I believe the cooking utensils required (e.g. the book claims a blow torch is an essential kitchen utensil) may not be suitable for every person looking to make delicious meals in a short amount of time. Would recommend this for more experienced chefs who have a lot of kitchen supplies available.
So we was in still quite strict lockdown and had more time on our hands, we like watching Ramsey’s programs and like how he cooks he make it look so easy. We thought ok let’s order the book and try something, we can’t go out not that we do much anyway but let’s treat ourselves. I promise to you the recipes are so easy! It’s honestly very simple the ingredients are not expensive and the most of the stuff you will have in your cupboard anyway. We have tried few dishes and it turned out just like in the picture. It is very simple and quick and I would recommend it we felt we was eating healthier and a good quality food.
Bought this book as gift but after a quick flick through the pages iv had to order another copy for myself. Exciting recipes and well set out pages with clear instructions and pictures. Four stars as having only just had the original copy arrive I haven’t been able to attempt any cooking yet but sure once tried and tested it will be worth 5.
