It feels like this cookbook was designed just for me and I've been married for 7 years! I am a family of 4 with two small children, so we're typically just cooking for two adults. We also love to entertain. This cookbook caters to both needs (with optionality to double the recipe when cooking for more adults of course) with delicious recipes and written in a user friendly way.
Specific elements I love: - The book starts out with a few pages with rules of thumb to follow - including what tools to have in the kitchen, standard ingredients to keep in the pantry and serving suggestions for parties. - The cookbook includes a 'sous chef' suggestion so my husband and I can divide and conquer the recipes together. - A lot of cookbooks assume you have a baseline knowledge (e.g., how to boil and egg, how to cook chicken), but this one starts from the raw ingredients in case you're new to cooking that specific type of food. It saves so much time and stress since all of that information is written in one place! - The color commentary for each chapter and recipe brings such a fun personality to the book and gets me excited to try the recipes.
Ever take a moment to realize that every cookbook on your bookshelf is catered to cooking for a family of 4.... i know it’s called the Newlywed Cookbook you’re a new couple, new roommates or a newlywed chances are you’re looking to cook for two and whether it’s Wednesday or DateNight this book has awesome options.
Beyond just well thought out recipes the book has great anecdotes and “souls chef” prep tips to get your partner involved in the cooking ( motivating my wife to help in the kitchen is hard so clear tasks are amazing!) Also the dinner parties look AWESOME. Super helpful. From setting up a kitchen to hosting guests this book has ALOT to offer. Definitely worth the read!
Like others have said, too many cookbooks recipes are for 4 or more. Our kids are gone and my wife and I have had a lot of fun with this book. As our kids and their friends get married a copy of this book will be part of the gift collection!
I don't know where this book came from but it was absolutely filthy when I took it out of the packaging. It's a paperback book and is intended to be a gift so I'm leery of washing it down. It is covered with grime and feels almost sandy to the touch. The book itself seems like a cute cookbook but I'm majorly disappointed in the lack of cleanliness.
