Illustrations were good but the story was really not all that great for a young child. I got it for my 2.5 year old and he left the book with more fears than he began. The resolution of the story doesn’t inspire self reliance to quell fears in the little’s brain. Returning this book.
I preordered so long ago I had honestly forgot about this book. It arrived today and was such a great surprise! The illustrations are adorable and so is the story. I’m excited to have this one in my son’s library. Ages 3-5, as recommended, seems like the perfect age range. It’s long enough to require an attention span but not too long to be enjoyable and completed in one sitting. (Also a good length for the inevitable “again, again!)
Little kids, under 5 or 6, will love and enjoy this book, especially if they love dinosaurs. I absolutely love Jay Flecks illustrations. He has a whimsical and unique style in his illustrations. The story will engage kids who are afraid of the dark and uses silly words to make it humorous. There is a cute ending, but not much substance in any lesson that is taught.
Cute book about being afraid of camping outside and how you can find light if you look for it. I was picturing a book more about handling fear of the dark, but my son can at least relate his fear of the dark at bedtime to Tiny's fear of the dark while camping during a sleepover.
