The perfect blend of funny and touching with well rounded characters and an unexpected twist at the end. A comedy of highly pleasurable errors from start to finish that couldn't of been sweeter. Had me chuckling with laughter, in awe and stitches at one crotchety caretaker and his fiery wife's antics, building with anticipation, warmed with touching uncertainty and seduced by one besotted, brooding, knight and his debate with himself to freely love the damsel of his dreams, with spicy results. A riveting good read that might be short, but never feels it, as it packs in the yearning desire and amusement to overflowing!! Love this novella - I also have it in paperback version too (Rogues Rush In) with the added bonus of a Christi Caldwell romance to indulge in, and indulge in I highly recommend you do!!!
Honouring the silent rules of friendship Sebastian, Lord Byrne, has kept his desires tightly leashed for years when it comes to his best-friend's sister the very tempting Mary Clayton, but when she is left waiting at the alter, Sebastian is damned if he will let her reputation be smeared, so he persuades her to marry him. The trickery that occurred wasn't really needed as a plot strand, but still enjoyed the read.
Potential Triggers: Child neglect and child physical abuse is referred to.
After reading other works of Tessa Dare, namely Girl meets Duke trilogy, I had high hopes for this one. Boy did it let me down! I cannot fathom it is the same author who penned these works. It's like this is an idea draft of one of her novels that she had discarded and then later thought I'll publish it as it is! The plot seems almost non existent and the characters! OMG! What happened Tessa Dare?? It feels like she was herself bored while writing it!! Not even worth the €1 I paid for it.
A lovely quick romantic historical novella - from a favourite author of mine - with steamy, yet tasteful sex scenes and fun dialogue that made me smile. Giggle worthy scene when our hero is trying to assemble the bed! Sebastian marries his long time friend (and secret love), Mary, after she's been jilted at the alter. There are humorous scenes when they arrive at his holiday cottage for the honeymoon. Great epilogue set several years later. 3.5 stars
I enjoyed this one, but then, I've always been a fan of Ms. Dare's books, even the short ones. They're entertaining, sweet, a bit of sexiness, and mostly fun banter between the characters. I'd recommend this one as a quick read.
