4.0 out of 5 stars ” This is where the writings of James Braha began to take on the best of both his astrological practices

“How to Predict your Future: The Secrets of Eastern and Western Astrology.” This is where the writings of James Braha began to take on the best of both his astrological practices. This book deals solely with the effects of transiting planets, from both a western perspective and a Vedic perspective. This book on transiting planets is by far nowhere near as comprehensive as Robert Hand’s Planets in Transit, but is a comparable second.
In “How to Predict Your Future,” James Braha only covers the outer planets from Jupiter to Pluto, with Jupiter and Saturn having their house transits from both the Ascendant and Natal Moon Position, as per Hindu tradition, while Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are detailed from their normal ascendant-western based relations.

Also his writing style is geared more for a spiritual clientele.

4.0 out of 5 stars As good as you're going to get

I've taken an interest in Vedic astrology for some time now... this book is excellent, probably one of the best books available on the market (best I've ready anyway).... but as with any kind of astrology, it's all about one's ability to interpret; that is basic rule. There's no formula for predicting career, love, health... The chart has to be looked at on a whole. In that sense, this book will definitely help tweek your skills.
The part on transits is okay- pretty basic stuff from a Western Astrology standpoint... The 2nd part of the book on Dasas is better.

I also loved Braha's newest book- the 9 session classes with student. It's a great compliment to this book.

This review has to do only with the Vedic part of the book, I know little about western astrology so can't speak to that part. First off I really loved Braha's book "The Art and Practice of Hindu Astrology" and would highly recommend that over most of the books out there. This book was a little bit of a let down. First off he gives a pretty brief description of vimshotari that is not of much use if you know about this stuff in the slightest. He also doesn't even get into the nakshatras or how to use them in vimshottari. Seeing that this entire timing system is based on the nakshatras I find this a huge oversight. Most of the vedic portion is a look at charts using basic natal analysis concerning the planets highlighted by the dasa running. Pretty basic stuff, and a lot of these charts are covered in the aforementioned book so it was a bit redundant for me. Nonetheless, an ok introduction but kind of lacking considering some of the rave reviews here...

4.0 out of 5 stars A good book for a good price !!!

A nice content. The transits are finely delineated and there is a good reporting on the Dasa hindu system. Transits are often difficult to interpretate, since age, social environnement, sex have to be considered. The content is therfore pretty general. One would have expected more examples to benefit of the synergy of these two systems. On the other hand, bridging the occidental transit approach with the Dasa clock lets a basic question open: What are the specific transits methods of Hindu astrology? How many techniques and systems are used? We are waiting for the next book of James Braha...

The best book i have read in regard to the transits of the outer planets. Outstanding. The second part of the book, which looks at eastern astrology was fascinating, and has encouraged me to learn more.

Very good work and it is great for the ones who are interested in astrology and I love it and is a good reference tool to so much. I am interested in both Vedic and Western astrology and this author is some one I respect and have read before.

2.0 out of 5 stars What could have been a good book really feel short here

This book really did not explain the Eastern astrology part at all. The part about transits in western astrology was not in enough detail. What could have been a good book really feel short here. A far better book that is more comprehensive is "Predictive Astrology" by Michele Adler, she goes into the detail and depth that I was looking for in this book.

I never use the Vedic techniques in this book but the interpretations are very insightful. It's really a handy reference and a refreshing change of pace from the old Rob Hand books.
