It is just a bit hard to believe that the sheriff, even one who is your friend, would ask you to help solve a crime, especially a murder. Or that he would allow half the town to show up at what could possibly be another murder/crime scene. But if you can suspend belief for a couple hours, this is an enjoyable read. I like that Harvey is a genuinely nice person. She sees good in people and wants to help those who are struggling. She draws people to her who feel the same. Even though murder always happens, good things, kind things still continue in their lives. I like these people and I'll continue reading about them if ACF Bookens writes about them.
Each book in this series has been more charming, inviting and just plain enjoyable than the previous one. And I've liked them all! Harvey Beckett is a loveable main character who draws people to her. She's kind, curious, and helpful. I want to be her friend! And sometimes she stumbles onto a dead body and ends up amateur sleuthing.
These books are fun, quick reads. Book 4 will be out later this year, so if you need to get lost in a fictional world (and who doesn't right now?), why not make it St. Marin's, Maryland?
I've fallen in love with the people of St. Marin. They are so real and human I just can't help myself. I'm close to blowing next month's book allowance and there are more books in the series! But, I just have to know how everyone is doing! This is why reading is magic, and Ms Bookens talent for portraying people shines on every page.
me? These books are SO not my style, yet I can't get enough of them. I really enjoy this writer's style. I feel like I know the main characters. By the middle of the book I couldn't put it down. ACT has a really interesting storytelling style and I appreciate the pleasure it brings.
I stayed up late finishing the third book in the series. I'm enjoying the characters as they develop and feeling a sense of familiarity with the town and bookstore. The pacing was consistent and kept me turning the pages to see what happened next. Looking forward to book four!
