To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Pa Raghavan's is one of the interesting Tamil authors in my reading radar. I usually read his writings, both fiction and non-fiction as and when made available in Amazon Kindle. Though this novel was released in hard copy in January 2020 I have recently bought his new novel Iravan in kindle version and started reading it.
Though I usually finish his novels as fast as possible, It took me nearly two weeks to get it finished in pieces. One reason is this book is not in the usual fast-paced style of the author. Secondly, the writer experiments setting up the theme of the novel in a different type of structure, unlike his other books. The reader also should get used to that. Sometimes the story is told in first person and sometimes in a third person's angle , intermixed often. Every author has full rights to experiment with anything that he thinks fit.
The novel is about a delusional, eccentric, self proud, non-practical, hasty at the same time patient, music genius who would seem like a sincere idiot at times to many, who attempts many unnatural and perverted methods to dig further to his exploration of music depths. His experiment with a female organ to play as a mouth organ is an example. Though the book is quite unusual in many chapters, some chapters are like woven in spaghetti code, and you need to read twice to understand what the chapter is about.
Each reader may have a different experience while reading Iravan novel. That might be the objective of the author. In that Pa Ra succeeds. A worth try.
