I loved Nina LaCour's writing already but this book is in a realm of its own. It's stunning, haunting and beautiful. I read it as a library book then turned around and bought a copy for myself and for a friend because I loved it so much. Don't worry about it being a ghost story if you don't like scary things - while haunting, it's not overtly scary. There's so much I loved about this one - I hope you love it too.
This was such a beautiful and gripping story that I found myself unable to put it down. I fell for the characters fast but in a way like the main character I thought it couldn't last. My worry, the general melancholy and everything sort of being revealed in flashes of memories really kept me tied to the book. I don't have the right words to describe the book, but I absolutely loved it and I'm thankful for it moving me to tears!
Literally, I don't know how she consistently writes these stories that seem to envelope me immediately and wholly, but she does. Every. Single. Time. I feel the grief and the growth and the joy and the learning and the happiness and everything she puts on the page. How lovely it is to read something this spectacular.
