While each tale is unique and leaves you spell bound, the ones that stood out for me are Swipe Right to Die by Elli P for her quirky writing style where she effortlessly brings in humour into a grim situation. The other brilliantly written tale is “ Cause and Effect” by Kanika G for cleverly bringing in a dystopian tale relevant to today’s situation. And It’s ABCD by Varad for its unpredictably and keeping me guessing till the end
All stories are thrilling and well written. But three stories deserve a special mention - Swipe right to die, the healer of dreams and A...B....C....D. Swipe....For its writing. Dream.....For its unique concept. ABCD for the plot twist, or rather the climax twist I didn't see coming. Having grown up on Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot and Perry Mason, I could guess the end of most of them as the story reached Midway, but ABCD had me guessing pretty laye. And then the last chapter was epic. No spoilers here, but must read for thriller fans.
It is rare to find an anthology that is so well written and flows seamlessly from one story to another.
Each story was unique, yet some stood out for me and were a pure joy to read. This book has a variety of themes and topics to choose from. Amateur sleuths like Shammi aunty who put seasoned cops to shame, TamBram middle aged geniuses, party girls trapped in crypts, the green mile, letters of death, pink vigilantes, mysterious cottages, corporate wars and what not.
A sheer delightful read and what really impressed me was the strong feminist undercurrent that runs throughout. Great book!
I had read and loved Route 13, an anthology of horror stories by Hive. So when I knew that they have come up with Blood Runs Cold, another anthology but of thriller stories, suffice to say that I was intrigued.
Seventeen stories by seventeen different writers, ranging from the macabre to the melancholy, from the audacious to the adventurous, these stories managed to keep me engrossed throughout.
Murder and mayhem are the order of the day inside the pages once you take the plunge. The stories cover a wide range and each of them are refreshingly different from each other. A...B...C...D..., Swipe Right to Die, Healer of Dreams, Countdown to 100 and Hollywood Murders emerged as a few favorites.
It is a wonderful anthology and I would definitely recommend it to those who are interested in thrilling stories of homicide and horror.
