My 10 year old absolutely devours every book in this Best Friends series and Eagerly follows these authors. She was so excited to see the newest Friends Forever arrive today but almost immediately brought to our attention that subjects she felt were beyond her understanding were being introduced. Playing Strip Poker, Experimenting with Alcohol are not story lines we are particularly interested in her being exposed to at this early age. In our opinion the age range for this particular book in the series should be 15 and above and not include pre teens. Felt it was important for parents to know the subjects introduced in this book.
Great book, idk why so many people are angry about the mature scenes, it's your fault as a parent and librarian for not going over it before giving it out to kids and its important kids learn the meaning of consent and saying no. I loved the book
I purchased this for an elementary school library. The other books in the series have been very popular. It was brought to my attention that this book has subjects that are too mature for an elementary school (for example: strip poker, alcohol, making out and "trying to do more" in closets). I feel like I've wasted a big chunk of money on this book because I no longer feel comfortable having it on my shelf for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to read. I know some of them may already hear about these subject but, as a parent, I wouldn't want my kids reading this at those ages. It's not a bad book, just not right for my audience.
