Belles images. Didactique.
Within the first few pages this book gives a scale that describes the degree to which someone should seek treatment. I immediately decided this book was useless when a few pages later one of the possible diagnoses was stroke and under “seek medical attention as soon as possible” rather than “urgent”. It says stroke is a serious medical attention requiring immediate care, possibly at the ER, so it baffles the mind as to why it’s not labeled as “urgent” right from the start.I’m no doctor, nurse, EMT, etc., but definitely know that if someone feels they might be having a stroke that urgent attention is needed and time is of the essence. A TIA was noted to resolve itself within 24 hours, yet notes to seek medical attention. Their coding system is not accurate at all and could endanger others.
I wish I bought this from Amazon and not a third party seller so I could return it. Returning it would cost about as much as I paid for it, thankfully which was very little as I toss it in the recycling bin. No way will I allow this to be reused by anyone, known or unknown to me, with such poor guidance.
Cons: not for medical professionals but helps to establish phrasing/wording in communication with English-speaking patients. Pros: very helpful visual guide to review and systematization/consolidation clinical symptoms to syndromes/nosology during prep to exam and med. practice in US medicine settings; very high quality of pictures, colors, paper. Lots of spaces to add your own notes; very affordable price;; Personally, I used this book as a sort of anatomical map/atlas to write my own notes related to symptoms by localization. Very recommend to buy and use it for medical students/residents/IMG 2CS-test-takers!
Great useful info in the book. Exactly what I was looking for. The information is clear and easy to understand. Nice glossy pages. Describes all the symptons and possible medical issues. Glad I bought it!
