I really enjoy reading any books written by Kathi Daley, and this was no exception. In fact, this was the first series I read of hers and I've made my way through at least 4 other series, including 2 which involve characters introduced in this book.

In Holiday Bay, Maine, the Inn at Holiday Bay is returning to normal after the festive season. Abby, the owner of the Inn, and Georgia the Manager and chef, are planning the year and the building of some holiday cottages in the grounds. The Inn has a block booking by a TV show, The Real Detectives. It's a reality series with a prize of 250,000 dollars in the final, and it's this week when the final is being filmed.

When a member of the TV company is found murdered in the lighthouse, Abby and Colt, her boyfriend and local Sheriff, look into it.

The town is appointing a new mayor after the last one passed away (see previous book), and one of Colt's exes has applied and is in town, jealous Abby rears her head, is she justified is thinking this way?

Georgia starts to get some strange emails, linked to the cooking show she fronts for the same TV company who are making the reality series being filmed at the Inn, and they're starting the make Georgia uneasy.

I really enjoy reading books in this series and am looking forward to the next one being released. The books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.

After there a murder in the lighthouse, our protagonist and her crew are back working on solving another mystery. This tim, a murder mystery program has come to the Inn to film a show and the show’s director becomes the victim of a real crime. As usual they’re are multiple suspects including many of the contestants and of the crew. The same it moves along at Ms Daley’s normal pace and the staff of the Inn contribute to the action. Not a bad little tale and a reasonable little mystery.

This is a story about the drama of reality shows. I don't for one moment doubt that those so-called "reality" shows are anything but. In this book, the contestants are split into teams and are to follow clues set up each day to come to the correct answer, then they are ranked. The people competing or even those shown on camera in the background are required to sign waivers that basically opens their lives to the public eye. How far will the producers, directors, and those running the show go to create the drama they need for ratings? When is it enough or wrong to drag people's lives through the mud, bring them to tears, ruin their lives? This time, has someone gone as far as murder to keep their secrets? Colt investigates an old hangout, a lighthouse popular for the kids back in the day. Suspects may include old friends or anyone of the show's participants. Who is it and why?

This was a good book in the Holiday Inn series but didn't quite meet the 5 star ratings I have given the rest of her books. The main characters in the series were good but the concept of the other part of the story left some very unfinished feelings at the end. There was also a gap that wrapped up the book but still left me with a "missing" something. Maybe the next book, hinted to in this book I believe, will tie things together.

This was an interesting take on reality shows. I used to like watching them but got tired of the drama. On a they did a great job on exploring the behind the scenes and creating a mystery. It was a nice little reprieve and I love reading her books. Can't wait till the next ins tour allment.
