Isla is a lady of pleasure for anyone willing to pay and hopes to snare a Laird one day. Eilidh Barclay, her 15 year old daughter, has no idea who her father is, and after the death of her baby brother, she plans to escape the life her mother has chosen. Searching for food in the kitchen of the Graham castle, Eilidh encounters drunken Laird MacAdam, a guest, who tries to accost her. She is saved by Caelan, the youngest of the three Graham sons. The Laird Graham banishes MacAdam from his clan’s lands.

Caelan offers to let Eilidh serve as a maid in the castle, and she is dedicated for six years. But a sinister villain vowing to get revenge on the mother by killing her child lurks in the castle shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to attack.

Meanwhile, the last words from his dying father were, “Ye’re not me true bairn, Caelan.” His mother confirms it but is I willing to name his true father, so he becomes determined to show his worth to the family and agrees to marry in order to create a powerful alliance with another clan. But he still remembers Eilidh, especially when Arran reminds him of her beauty and strength and throws out that if Caelan didn’t want her he would give it a try with her.

Logan Robertson, friend of Arran, is staying at the castle for a few months and is immediately taken with Eilidh, much to her dismay. Caelan is jealous and angry.

Caelan hears rumors of an attack on the Graham keep by the Laird of another clan. Hmm. More mystery and intrigue. Is this related to the cloaked man skulking around the castle? Then his mother reveals that she has been in talks with other clans about his marrying for a very favorable alliance.

Caelan is torn between his perceived allegiance to his clan and his true feelings for Eilidh. One moment he is disparaging her to his brothers as the child of a “lady of pleasure,” and the next moment he is pulling her in for a passionate kiss.

Fiona Faris has put into motion a complex plot that includes clan vs clan strife, internal threats to the Graham castle’s safety, mysterious relationships, and romantic struggles that leaves readers on edge about the odds for a positive resolution to any of the conflicts. Especially when Caelan loves one and becomes betrothed to another.

Will Caelan and Eilidh find their HEA? Will the stalker be outed? Will the clan stay safe from attack? Will Caelan and Eilidh learn the identities of their fathers? Read on.

I loved being reconnected with the characters from “The Lies a Lass Tells,” the first book in this series. Evan and Arran, Caelan’s brothers, are as protective of their younger brother as ever, and the love between Evan and his very pregnant wife Dabria, is alive and palpable, leaving Eilidh to sigh and ponder if, “It is possible to love deeply.”

Readers will be totally surprised by what Faris cooks up as the novel barrels through to its conclusion. Enjoy!

Caelan was one of 3 brothers. When his father died he told Caelan that he was not his real father. It made Caelan bitter. Then one night a maid was being raped, Eilidh. Caelan rescued her before the worse could happen. He was really impressed with her fight. He always thought she was shy and weak, but not from what he saw. They spend lots of time together after. They wanted to be together but so much would happen. Please read this story, I know you will like it very much

This is the second book in the series of-brides of Graham castle. The first book in the series is the the lies the lass tells (was actually my first book I read from the author) This is the second book in the series and also the second book I read.Since I knew the characters introduced in the first book,I enjoyed it.This book is of the youngest son Caelen who had saved Eilidh from the clutches of a cruel lord.Eilidh works in the castle as a maid.story is of their love for each other but the union is impossible due to difference in their status.this book has love, romance, betrayal at the same time unity amongst the 3 brothers. The review is all mine even though recd an Arc copy.I loved this authors writing and will follow reading her stories as I thouroughly enjoyed it .Looking forward to reading the middle son of the lairds story Will they won’t they -Scottish clan romance

It took me a while to realise this was the second book in the series following the three brothers in the Graham clan. This book follows the younger brother Caelan and his - will they won’t they - romance with the maid Eilidh. There were a little too many twists and turns in the tale for me - and the final denouement seemed a little rushed leaving a few unanswered plot lines.

This book rocks! It’s back to Graham castle for Eilidh and Caelan’s story. They meet when she is brought to the castle with her mother. They will become close friends when he saves her from the unwanted advances of another Laird. As in all of Fiona’s stories, treachery and betrayal abound. There is someone sneaking about the castle with ill intent. Eilidh is targeted and there are also whispers of a threat against the clan. Their journey is a bumpy one as Caelan struggles with his vow to his family and his feelings for Eilidh. When the betrayal comes, it is from the most unexpected source. A battle with an angry Laird will reveal truths long hidden. In the end, despite all the odds that have been stacked against them, Caelan and Eilidh will find their happily ever after together.

I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

Caelan rescued Eilidh when she was 15 from being assaulted by a Laird in his fathers castle. He makes her a maid as her mother was a woman of pleasure there. She’s had a crush on him for several years but he told his father that he’d marry a heiress to secure the clan. She head this and was heart broken as she loved him. But then his brother decides to try for her. But a friend also visiting wants to try also. But unknown to them a plot is in the castle that revolves around her! Will he finally see what his heart has tries to tell him? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Caelan and Eilidh have a special bond and breaking it would be a tragedy. Sadly they are very aware of the dislike that Caelan’s mother harbors for her. The Graham boys are quite a force to be met. This is a wonderful story about 3 brothers and their loves, the castle they all live in with all of the inner turmoil. These are strong characters starting with the wife of Laird Graham. Dabria is the perfect example of a woman willing to fight for her happiness. She is an inspiration to Eilidh and close friend, regardless of the class difference. This is a wonderful book, Ms Faris has presented her fans another great read!

Extremely Intense Storyline. One not to sit back and relax to read. Instead you will be more anguished to find out what is happening next. Only you won’t know. Things keep happening and changing all the way to end. Evil is lurking, mysteries about, vendettas in place, secrets coming out, family honor is asked, and true love in jeopardy.
Eilidth Barclay and Caelan Graham met when she was in a time of needing to be rescued. A bond was formed. Though he was a Lairds son and she a simple maid . If that was the only obstacle it could possibly be achieved. So many more things come forward to make this more difficult , or so you might believe.
Suspenseful, exhilarating, stimulating, and watching love being tested. An Experience to Read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Read!

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, so was pumped when Faris announced a sequel! The main characters were some of my favorites in the first book, so I enjoyed their story. I really liked seeing the family grow, and the challenges Eilidh went through. The reason I didn't give a full 5-stars is because I got SO frustrated with the male character, Caelan. Sometimes, I was just like, "ugh, why?!" Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed this story and hope she'll continue on with the last brother!

This story was fast paced and full of intrigue. Elidh was the daughter of a lady of the night. Her story told of a woman with inner strength and a love for a man that seemed impossible. Caelan was conflicted because of a secret he carried. It made this book interesting and the mystery had you looking for answers. There was alot of intrigue in this this story. It made you look for answers as you read this book. The intrigue of who is behind things keeps you guessing. Caelan's secret is hard on him. For he can tell no one. Fiona writes a great book and it's worth a read. J
