The Novel is filled with adventures but is not a masterpiece as compared to Six of Crows duology.
And yea u have to read the Whole Grishaverse series including Shadow of bone trilogy and Six of crows Duology to understand better what is going on in here and it will help u to create better connection with the characters and their journeys.
This book won't disappoint u but dont have great expectation that it will blow ur mind off like Six of crows and Crooked kingdom ending.

The story mainly revolved around Nikoli and Zenya. The two old characters of Grishaverse. The book is all about the Journey of Nikoli after the end of Darkling in Six of crows duology and how he is controlling and ruling his kingdom.

An Awesome Novel but not a masterpiece of Grishaverse series
