About steve higgs
When Steve Higgs wrote his debut novel, Paranormal Nonsense, he was a captain in the British Army. He would like to pretend that he had one of those careers that must be blacked out and generally denied by the government, and that he has to change his name and move constantly because he is still on the watch list in several countries. In truth, though, he started out as a mechanic - not like Jason Statham in the film by that name, sneaking around as a hitman, but more like one of those sleazy guys who charges a fortune and keeps your car for a week even though the only thing you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.
At school, he was largely disinterested in all subjects except creative writing, for which he won his first prize at the age of ten. However, calling it the first prize he won suggests that there were other prizes, which is not the case. Awards may yet come, but in the meantime, he enjoys writing mystery and thriller novels and claims to have more than a hundred books forming a restless queue in his mind because they are desperate to be written.
Now retired from the military, he lives in southeast England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he'll ever leave, the beer is just too good.

Jess Ward has only been back on the Isle of Wesberrey for a few weeks, but all the recent drama has made it feel a lot longer. Drama much increased by the unexpected arrival of her sister Susannah.
The bishop is due in a few days to formally install her into the benefice of St. Bridget’s and there is so much to prepare. Add to that a double funeral and a surprise visit from her mother and Jess has no time for family legends about the ‘godmother’ and the Well of the Triple Goddess.
However, the disappearance of a wealthy businessman forces Jess to reexamine her personal connection to this ancient family myth - her family claim they can sense that he is dead.
It’s all madness, of course. But the discovery of his body at his father-in-law’s funeral drags them all back into the island’s darkest secrets.
Her best friend has gone AWOL with the handsome undertaker and her sister is proving to be an unwanted distraction for the dishy police inspector.
Things move fast on Wesberrey, and it’s enough to make Jess dizzy. Or is that the result of reconnecting with her pagan past?
When a newspaper ad typo sends all manner of daft paranormal enquiries his way, P.I. Tempest Michaels has no sense of the trouble and danger heading his way. In no time at all, he has multiple cases to investigate, but it’s all ridiculous nonsense like minor celebrity Richard Claythorn, who believes he is being stalked by a werewolf and a shopkeeper in a nearby village with an invisible thief.
Solving these cases might be fun if his demanding mother (Why are there no grandchildren, Tempest?) didn’t insist on going with him, but the simple case of celebrity stalking might not be all it seems when he catches a man lurking behind the client’s property just in time to see him step into the moonlight and begin to transform.
All he wanted was a nice easy job where he got to be his own boss and could take his trusty Dachshunds to work. How much trouble can a typo cause?
The paranormal? It’s all nonsense, but proving it might get him killed.
Life certainly isn’t dull for Patricia.
But when she arrives home in England, she plans to start a new chapter of her life. Of course, she has a case waiting for her: the murder of her former BFF, successful business owner Maggie Jeffries. It’s not the straightforward investigation she expected though.
Maggie’s office manager has vanished, anomalous sums are missing from the business accounts, and there’s a mysterious giant following her. Could her past cases be coming back to get revenge?
With a potential gangland connection to the murder, cops telling her to leave the case alone, and her dog, Anna, about to give birth to royal puppies, Patricia is in for one heck of a homecoming week.
Oh, and she has nowhere to live, her car is on the fritz, her soon-to-be ex-husband is lying to her, and someone definitely wants her dead. She’s going to need a lot of gin and tonic to get through this case alive.
This book includes Under a Blue Moon, a free additional full-length bonus novel from the Blue Moon series.
However, she is surprised, and really not delighted, to hear that he has a secret task for her - find his contact, hand over a harmless looking data storage device that just happens to have the details of a superweapon on it, and save the world from certain disaster. Her country needs her.
Well, that’s just perfect.
Throw into the mix a missing grandmother who just might have been grabbed by sex traffickers, foreign agents who all want the weapon, and the return of her gin-guzzling friend Lady Mary Bostihill-Swank and her relaxing, romantic stop in Malta might be the most exciting two days of her life.
Get ready for another cozy thrill ride as Patricia, Barbie, Jermaine, and more get in and out of trouble in an ancient island paradise.

Someone killed his girl. Not just any someone, but an enigma of a man called Daniel Quinn. Quinn wants to destroy August and is willing to target everyone in the paranormal investigator's life to achieve his aim.
Why?
No one knows. Not even August.
Until he can locate the object of his murderous intent, August focuses his fury on another – the so-called Vampire of Sacramento.
Hiding in the shadows, California's latest serial killer is stalking their next victim. It’s not August’s job to stop them, but he’s going to do it anyway.
He needs someone to pound on. Someone he won’t feel bad about hurting. Whatever you do, don’t get in his way.
A desperate call for help is more than enough to get Patricia and friends in motion, especially when the call is from Patricia’s socialite friend and zoo owner, the rather gin-soaked Lady Mary Bostihill-Swank.
Her husband, George, an acclaimed thriller writer, has gone missing from her home but there is no ransom note and no sign of foul play. With no crime to investigate, the police are doing nothing and that’s not good enough for Patricia.
Amid a backdrop of strange occurrences, which include jewellery stolen from inside Lady Mary’s mansion, a note that suggests George might have been kidnapped by Bolivian freedom fighters, and a lady tiger somehow pregnant from immaculate conception, the team must wade through a confusion of clues to find the truth.
Will they be too late? Is George dead or alive? Will Lady Mary run out of gin?
With Patricia’s ability to attract trouble working overtime, every hour counts, but as she begins to close the net, the dangerous creatures that surround them reveal a far more deadly crime is taking place …
Solving mysteries can be murder.
There’s intrigue and mystery afoot though; the Marahaja’s invite suggested he had a mystery for her to solve, but in true Patricia style, it’s nowhere near that simple.
Someone in Zangrabar wants her dead but they didn’t count on the tenacity of her friends and the loyalty of her butler. Beware wrongdoers, Patricia is getting used to ruining nefarious plans.
However, with her friends going missing, secretive servants, lies and unexplained events, it’s soon time for Patricia to ditch the willing smiles and go full sleuth-mode.
Get ready for adventure in the desert as Patricia and her entourage take on a secret mission that will place them in the middle of a perilous conspiracy and may cost them more than they want to pay.
‘A complete cozy mystery series with an ending that left me on a high for days!’
